At the University of Houston–Clear Lake, the concept of the professional and lay futurist has deep roots in its pioneering Studies of the Future program, which began in the 1970s and evolved into today’s Foresight Program. This program was one of the first of its kind in the U.S., blending academic rigor with practical foresight tools to prepare both professionals and everyday changemakers to think strategically about the future via roundtable, clinic, workshop, seminar, and convention.
